Complications, Risks and Limitation of Laser Skin Resurfacing

Case for any complications for this procedure is rare. When they occur they may include skin discoloration, pigmentation changing, burning, scarring and virus infection. One thing you should know, laser skin resurfacing does not stop the aging process. That’s why, wrinkles, discoloration, and other imperfections can reappear throughout your lifetime.

Pigmentation Changing
Semi-permanent or permanent skin lightening may occur in the treated areas. This is unpredictable and hard to treat without permanent tattooing of the skin. The skin may also become hyperpigmented (darker) immediately following the surgery. Often this darkening treats itself, lightening on its own or responding to various skin care regimens that include hydroquinone (a bleaching crème) and alpha hydroxy (fruit) acids.

Scarring
Laser skin resurfacing may not sufficiently tighten the skin, and surgical excision may be necessary to achieve the results desired. It is most often worthwhile the try to perform laser procedure first to avoid the possibility of scarring, so do not be dismayed if a secondary procedure is necessary.

Burns and Injuries
Heat from the laser may cause burns or injuries. To reduce the risks involved in this procedure, carefully follow all of your surgeon’s instructions, both before and after surgery.

Aftercare for Laser Skin Resurfacing

The amount of time needed for recovery depends on the depth of the resurfacing and the individual’s capacity to heal. You will probably experience some mild swelling and discomfort after laser resurfacing. This can be controlled with ice packs and medications prescribed by your surgeon. There may be a red, crusted appearance for 10 or more days. Redness may persist for several weeks, or longer. The redness gradually lightens to pink, and then to a lighter, more natural color.

If a bandage was applied after your procedure, it may be changed with a the new one after a day or two. After about a week, your bandage will be removed, and a thin layer of ointment may be applied to your skin. Some physician’s use a tape that retains moisture to bandage the treated area. Because this bandage must remain dry, you will not be able to shower normally until the bandages are removed.

At this stage your surgeon will provide instructions on how to gently wash and care for your healing skin.

If the treated area is not bandaged, you will need to wash your face several times daily and you do it carefully. After each washing, you will need to apply an ointment, such as petroleum jelly, to the treated area. Scabs may form, and last for about 10 days. You must not pick at the scabs. If you experience pain, an over-the-counter pain medication can be taken.

During this phase of healing, it is very important that you not pick the crusts off the treated area, or scarring may result. Most patients are free of crusts after 10 days, but redness may persist for several weeks. Make-up can be applied approximately two weeks after the procedure to cover-up the redness.

Laser resurfacing generally removes most of the fine wrinkles and imperfections in the treated area, but natural facial movements and expressions eventually cause some of the lines to reappear. Like most other methods of skin resurfacing, laser treatments may be repeated to maintain the desired results.

After laser resurfacing, daily sunscreen is highly recommended to protect the sensitive new skin from sun exposure. Ask your doctor to recommend a sun block with both UVA and UVB protection, and apply it daily. If resurfacing was done around your eyes, you should use sunglasses.

The Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure

Laser skin Resurfacing is a treatment using high intensity emissions of light from the laser remove layers of damaged or wrinkled skin at precisely controlled levels of penetration.

Your doctor may perform laser skin resurfacing in the office, an outpatient surgery center, or a hospital. First, the doctor, or an assistant, will cleanse your face to remove oils from the skin. Antibiotic is then applied to kill bacteria.

Typically you would receive local anesthesia, while you are sedated but awake; however, you might receive general anesthesia for treatment of deeper layers of the skin. To treat small areas of the skins surface, your physician will most likely use a local anesthetic with or without an oral sedative. For complete facial resurfacing, physicians most commonly use intravenous sedation or a general anesthesia with monitoring of your ECG, breathing and other vitals signs. Even patients who remain awake during the procedure report feeling only minimal discomfort. After the surgery you feel only mild to moderate pain.

the patient’s eyes are covered to protect them from the laser light. The length of the procedure depends upon the size of the area the patient wishes to have treated. A partial facial skin resurfacing can take as little as half an hour; a full resurfacing can take up to two hours.

A beam of light from a microphone-shaped instrument is passed over the skin to vaporize the outer layers of damaged skin. The laser can be programmed for varied levels of penetration. The doctor moves the laser precisely over the area of skin requiring treatment. Depending on the depth of the wrinkle, scar, or discoloration, the laser may be moved over the area repeatedly.

The doctor may choose to penetrate more deeply in some areas, in order to remove deep scars, stubborn spots, and wrinkles. As the laser works, you may hear it zapping, and smell smoke. The laser penetrates and removes the number of outer skin layers necessary to uncover the layer not affected by imperfections. Once that layer is exposed, healing can begin to rebuild new skin that looks younger and does not have the imperfections. Finally, your doctor, or a medical assistant, may apply a protective ointment or bandage to the treated area.

The procedure may be performed in two or more sessions to penetrate deeper areas, but one procedure is usually enough.

Which Laser Machine Is Best For Laser Hair Removal?

Are you’ve some hair somewhere that you are just dying to get rid of? Maybe you’re sick of shaving it. Well, may be you’ve been trying with Waxing, but it may not last very long, and most of the other products on the market are either are ineffective or outright scams.

Then here’s come the laser. Laser hair removal has been available now for over ten years. Today’s lasers are more effective and longer lasting, with several receiving clearance to be marketed for permanent hair reduction. With all the lasers available in the market and beauty salon to choose from, is one laser better than the others? Does the laser even matter?

Choosing The Right Equipment
Does your choice of laser affect the ultimate outcome of your treatment? I say : no and yes. No single laser has been clinically proven to be the best. There is no sufficient comparative trials to establish this. As a result, doctors and clinics tend to promote the virtues of whatever laser they purchased or leased. At $70,000 to $125,000 per machine, you can see why they have a vested interest in promoting their chosen equipment.

Certain lasers do work better for people with certain skin types and hair colors. There are several guidelines that are important in helping you choose which laser is right for you.

Avoiding The Side Effects: Choosing The Laser Which Is Safe For Dark Skin
First thing you should do about laser hair removal is the longer the laser’s wavelength, the safer it is on darker skin and the fewer side effects. Why? Longer wavelength laser energy tends to penetrate deeper into the skin. This is especially important in people with dark or tanned skin. Nd:YAG lasers have the longest wavelength of current hair removal lasers at 1064nm. Nd:YAG lasers include the CoolGlide, the Lyra, and the Athos. Diode Lasers, with the second longest wavelength of current hair removal lasers at 810nm, are also used to treat people with olive to dark complexions. Thus diode lasers are a viable alternative if you cannot find a doctor with an Nd:YAG laser in your area. Popular diode lasers include the LightSheer, LaserLight, and Apex 800.

Cutting The Price And The Speed of Treatment
Keep in your mind: the faster the laser’s repetition rate and the larger its spot size (the size of skin treated with each laser shot) the faster the treatment. For areas such as the legs or back, it is wise to choose a laser that can cover a large area in short time. Alexandrite lasers like the GentleLase have the largest spots sizes available on the market at up to 18mm. The GentleLase is perhaps the fastest on the market at covering large areas. The Lightsheer diode is also quite fast and represents a good alternative if you have olive or brown skin. Generally, the faster the laser, the less your treatment will cost, so it pays to seek out a speedy laser when treating large areas.

The Best Treatment For Fine Hairs
Finally, if the hair you want removed is fine or light in texture, you might find that it is less responsive to laser treatment than is thicker or coarser hair. In this instance, Alexandrite lasers such as the GentleLase might be your best choice, except if you have dark skin. The GentleLase has been reported to be particularly effective on fine hairs. Nd:YAG lasers are the least effective on fine hairs, and diode lasers fall somewhere in-between.

Ultimately, you must decide upon a laser in consultation with an experienced doctor, for they are best able to determine your precise skin type. Since many laser hair removal offices and clinics offer free consultations and spot checks, it is usually wise to get the opinions of two or more doctors before choosing a laser and a treatment plan. By doing your research and finding the right laser for you, you will help ensure that your laser hair removal experience will be a successful one.

How To Cover Acne With Make Up?

I hate acne. Especially if I have to presenting my job to the clients, it show up and disturb me. This is a very and upsetting condition. But, there are ways to help you to conceal the scars and pimples that are caused by this naturally occurring skin blemish.

Makeup is my favorite choice to hide their acne, I think so does many other women. One of the most important things to consider when choosing makeup to cover acne is that it is appropriate for the condition. Acne can be made worse by makeup that contains oil and so it is best to choose a brand that does not contain any. If you are not sure which is the best to choose, then it is recommended to get some advice from your dermatologist or skin care specialist rather than just guessing. If you have a lot of acne scarring then there are some special camouflage make-ups available nowadays. This can be great for concealing scarring and is also made for those with problem skin.

You should remember, before using makeup for acne, make sure that your skin is clean and use cleanser that good for skin with acne. You should also make sure that when you take off the makeup you are very careful to make sure that you have taken all of it off. It is very important to make sure that the skin is clear of all makeup so that the pores are clear and do not get clogged up.

Hide Your Acne With Proper Techniques of Makeup
I usually use concealer for the acne. This is very good for covering up blemishes and also works well on scarring. You need to take care when applying this as it is the basis of your makeup and is a vital ingredient in allowing you to camouflage the acne well.

Tips for you :
  • Don't use too thick layer, just make sure that it is even so that it can work well.
  • You need to apply a foundation to give your skin a natural appearance to cover the fact that you have been using the concealer to cover your acne and not make it so obvious.
Acne and makeup are very well suited to each other despite what some people think, you just to have make sure that you look after the skin by keeping it clean and ensuring that you get it all off afterwards. If you buy the right makeup and apply it well then it can make a real difference.

Tatoo For The Permanent Cosmetics : Looking Best All The Time

Permanent cosmetics, also known as cosmetic tattooing or micropigmentation or dermagraphics, is becoming increasingly popular over the use of conventional make up. The implantation is a deposit of tiny individual implants of pigment or vegetable-based dye into the top layer of the skin.

These cosmetic procedures are performed using different kinds of machinery such as the traditional tattoo or coil, the pen or rotary and the non-machine or hand method. The process includes the initial consultation and application, and then one or two follow up visits for adjusting the shape and color or density of the pigment.

Who Want To Do This, Consider This Permanent Make Up Will Be There All The Time?
Anyone who wants to enhance their appearance can do this. May be she got following surgery or an injury, loss of hair including eyebrows and/or eyelashes. Vitiligo patients who may have lost their pigment to areas of skin. Physically active people can also apply this, they may don't want to worry about sweating off or reapplying cosmetics. Entertainers, actresses, models even mothers and other busy professionals who can’t not find the time can use it. If you have certain allergies to cosmetic, micropigmentation can be the solution.

What Can Be Done With Tattoo?
  • Eyebrows : proper placement will open up the eyes
  • Eyeliner, top and bottom : can be used to help reshape the eye
  • Eyelash : making them thicker and fuller
  • Lipliner and full lip color : redefinition of an irregular line; restoration if fading has occurred
  • Beauty marks
Is It Really Permanent?
It called permanent because the coloring is set and cannot be washed off. However, fading can occur, so periodic maintenance is required. Consider this and all other aspects when choosing a technician. Some factors that can negatively influence the longevity of these cosmetics are :
  • he sun and UV rays and tanning booths
  • Some drugs
  • Excessively dry skin
  • Smoking
  • Alpha- hydroxy, Retin-A, and glycolic acids. These substances slough away top layers of skin and eventually the implants will be affected.
What Is The Price?
These cosmetic procedures are commonly known as para-medical. If work is performed in a physician's office or in specialized clinics the rates may be higher. However, the cost should not be the most important issue but rather the training and skill of the technician and the client’s confidence.

How Long Does It Take?
It will generally take 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours with much less time for the follow-up.

Is It Painful?
Of course this procedure is invasive so there may be some discomfort but will vary according to the individual and to the skills of the technician. If you want to reduce or remove the pain, you can ask the beautician/doctor to apply topical anaesthetic. There may be a small amount of bleeding but the area is washed at the end of the process and antiseptic cream applied.

Is It Safe?
Visit the location where this is to be done. Look for all materials including needles, machine parts and supplies to be kept in a sanitary manner. Gloves should be worn, workers clean and neat, fresh drapery used for the patient and the room tidy and free from any contaminants.

What If I Don't Like It?
Although this type of cosmetics is permanent, there is a flexibility to change color and shape somewhat, depending on the expertise of the technician. There are some methods for removing tattoos including laser treatments, abrasion, and surgery. But there are side issues such as many visits, cost and possibly a change of color to a less desirable shade.

Take note that colors initially will appear darker but will lighten during the healing which takes about a week or longer depending on the individual and the procedure.

MRI
Caution - if it is necessary at some time that you undergo a diagnostic procedure known as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), a burning sensation may occur and there may be some swelling in the areas that have been colored. It is not harmful but can be uncomfortable for a short time. The pigments can interfere with the image acquired by the scan. Do inform the radiologist so that this can be taken care of.

How If I Take The Semi Permanent
The Magic Stylo pen is a perfect alternative or it can be used in addition to the permanent cosmetics for a ?touch up?. It is a long lasting (8 ? 24 hours) semi-permanent pigment and smudge-proof.

Be sure to apply to dry and clean skin. Always cap the pen after each use. Apply to extend lips and use before lipstick. Apply to eyebrows to create a natural look. Will clog around eye shadow, lotions, and lipsticks if not used correctly. If the pen clogs, gently clean the tip with a small alcohol pad. Then, give a little shake for the liquid to flow to the tip again. It soaks into the skin on top thus creating a more natural look. It can be removed easily with any makeup remover. Check out brand names such as Revlon, Max Factor and Clinique who advertise lasting performance cosmetics.

Finish The Day Free of Cosmetics
At the end of the day do remove all traces of makeup, leaving your face clean and fresh for the night. There is so much to learn about our skin, its care, all the products that are out there and how best to look and feel good. This goes a long ways to helping our self-esteem and building confidence in ourselves. We can do a minimum skincare regime of cleaning our skin, to using daily rituals of moisturizing and toning; using makeup or going for permanent cosmetics.
